Woods on Johnson: Worsencroft Review of

Wyatt Reader M.A.'s picture

Only one of number of photos from the summer of 1968, showing the Poor Peoples March on Washington, gathered at the reflecting pool during hot and humid midday, just soth of the Lincoln Memorial. A temporary encampment on the Mall took place just beyond this location, where have taken the photo from steps of Lincoln Memorial lookig North to the Washington Monument and Capitol  beyond, not shown here.

This was during the Vietnam Wa and demonstrated the levels of domestic concern for then existing economic conditions and the historical situation Americans found themelves facing that summer,  end to the 1960s as the Vietnam conflict dragged into 1969.
