Cfp: Youth in the New Turkey - 5th World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES) Seville, Spain 16-22 July 2018

The proposed panel invites papers addressing the contemporary youth cultural practices in Turkey. In recent years, young people figured prominently in various major political events such as the Gezi Park Uprising. They have also been targets of governmental interventions such as the AKP’s controversial program to cultivate a ‘pious generation,’ as well as numerous changes to the education system and the curricula.
