Transcription: problems and persistence

Friends:

The "Circulating Now" blog of the National LIbrary of Medicine has a post discussing the problems posed when transcribing a manuscript that includes a mixture of idiosyncratic shortcuts and how the author tried to overcome them.

Call for volunteers to beta test Ottoman Turkish Crowdsourcing Project

Dear Colleagues,

Ottoman Turkish Crowdsourcing(OTurC) needs your help to beta test the transcription workflow for  Muallim Cevdet Inancalp’s personal papers and printed articles. OTurC initiative invites citizen scholars and academicians to help transcribe certain collections from the vast 19th and early 20th century Ottoman Turkish manuscript and print archives. Your participation in this project will help create digital transcriptions for researchers to use in their studies while giving you an opportunity to explore original Ottoman Turkish collections in digital format.

Style guide for interviews in Spanish?

I'm managing an oral history project that so far involves interviewing in both English and Spanish. (Interviews are in one language or the other, not in both.) For interviews in English, we are using the Baylor style guide. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a similar resource for editing Spanish-language transcripts.
