Recommended by the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights (via email 4/26/2016): "Jimmy Winkfield was in 1902 the last African American jockey so far to win the Kentucky Derby. He grew up outside Lexington, Ky. He won two Kentucky Derby races, back-to-back, in 1901 and in 1902, and was one of only four jockeys in the history of the Kentucky Derby to do so.
