Big thanks to Paula and Tim! Your help is very much appreciated. I have interviewed Mayor Bell about some other issues, but we didn't get a chance to talk too much about Emory Woods. I should probably contact him again and some of the other folks in the community to do oral histories. The journalistic and scholarly record on the neighborhood unfortunately does appear to be pretty thin. In any case, thank you!
I know that Bill Bell lived very close to the Parkwood community. If official documents are hard to come by, you could ask Bell and other residents for an oral history of the neighborhood in which they lived. Their families may also have photographs or leads to resources. You might also try the Durham County Public Library's North Carolina Room collection of maps and other local sources.
