New book: The Captive Sea

Dear colleagues,

It’s a pleasure to announce the publication of my book, The Captive Sea: Slavery, Communication, and Commerce in Early Modern Spain and the Mediterraneanin the University of Pennsylvania Press. The book—based on records composed by Iberian and Maghribi Christians, Jews, and Muslims—examines the connected histories of early modern Spain, Ottoman Algiers, and Morocco, and by extension the entangled histories of Muslim and Christian captives.
