Dear SHEAR friends,
{{ with apologies for duplication, our servers went down today and I am scrambling to reach everyone }}
As you all know, due to the pandemic we were forced to postpone our July 2020 meeting until the summer of 2021. Let me again emphasize, however, that the conference and the wonderful panels crafted by program co-chairs Nancy Isenberg and John Belohlavek and their superb committee have not been cancelled but merely delayed for twelve months, and the conference will still be held in Philadelphia.

4th Annual SHEAR Second-Book Writers’ Workshop – ONLINE EDITION
Dear SHEAR friends,
Dear SHEAR friends:
I know it's a bit last minute, but I am trying to put together a group who would be interested in joining a panel I am organizing for SHEAR in Philadelphia in July 2020.
I am interested in organizing a panel about the nature of royal authority of the British Empire and how it was shaped and changed by the French and Indian War and the early years of the Imperial Crisis. My own paper deals with colonial governors on the borderlands in the Gulf South and how their representation as conduits for the king had lasting ramifications into the late 1700s and early 1800s.
