SHEAR 2023 - "Fractures in White Identity and Power" - Panelist Wanted

Hi, 

We're two PhD candidates (reading History and Literature respectively) looking to put together a panel on the fragmentation of white identity and power, preferably in the antebellum period. We're looking for papers that challenge conceptions of a universal "white" identity and power,  including but not limited to race and gender politics. CFP: The Color of Slavery: Construction and Deconstruction of a Colonial System (FCHS Annual Conference)

The 47th annual meeting of the French Colonial Historical Society (FCHS) will take place at the Université des Antilles in Martinique, May 4-6, 2023. We welcome panels and papers related to this year's theme, "The Color of Slavery: Construction and Deconstruction of a Colonial System." This includes contributions on the racial legacies of slavery in French colonial and post-colonial societies in the Caribbean, the Atlantic, and the Indian Ocean. We also solicit proposals that address any aspect of French colonial history. 

Panel on Edward Long

Michael Fienberg (University of Wisconsin) and R. Grant Kleiser (Columbia) are crafting a panel for the American Society for 18th Century Studies from March 9-11, 2023 that reassesses the work of Edward Long in relation to the 21st Century Caribbean. We are looking for fellow panelists who would be interested in joining us. The abstract for the panel is below.
