The Center for the Study of Force and Diplomacy Edwin Sherman Prize ($1000) Call for Undergraduate Papers

Temple University’s Center for the Study of Force and Diplomacy (CENFAD) is delighted to once again solicit submissions for its annual Edwin H. Sherman Prize for Undergraduate Scholarship in Force and Diplomacy. The recipient of the Edwin Sherman Prize receives a $1,000 award along with a certificate. CENFAD welcomes submissions from students or instructors/advisors/mentors.

Envirotech, a special interest group within the Society for the History of Technology and the American Society for Environmental History, invites nominations for the 2021 Joel A. Tarr Envirotech Article Prize. The Tarr Prize recognizes innovative publications that explore new ways of thinking about the interplay between technological systems and the natural environment.

2nd Call: SHCY Article Prize - Nordic Region

The Society for the History of Children and Youth (SHCY) is pleased to call for nominations for the best peer-reviewed journal article on the history of children, childhood, or youth (broadly construed) published in, or about, the Nordic region in 2020. Articles may be published in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, or English. The winner will be announced in the Summer of 2021.

Honorary doctorate for child rights activist Graça Machel


Leiden University will confer an honorary doctorate on human rights and child rights activist Graça Machel on its Founcation Day, 8 February 2021. Ms Machel will receive the honorary doctorate for her lifelong commitment to the rights of children. She was nominated by the board of Leiden Law School, on the initiative of professors of child rights Ton Liefaard and Julia Sloth-Nielsen. The ceremony can be watched via livestream. .
