Bekanntlich nimmt die Lyrik innerhalb der deutschsprachigen Literatur der 50er Jahre einen zentralen und breit gefächerten Schwerpunkt ein: Autorinnen und Autoren haben Tausende von Einzeltiteln und Hunderte von Anthologien veröffentlicht, die gewaltige Menge setzt sich aus vielfältigen, oft disparaten, teilweise konträren Richtungen zusammen. Fortschreibungen herkömmlicher lyrischer Traditionen des 19. Jahrhunderts, des Symbolismus der Jahrhundertwende, der Neuen Sachlichkeit und der 'völkischen Literatur' behaupten neben innovativen Ansätzen ihren Platz.
