Re: Cuba Commentary

I teach Cuban American and Cuban contemporary literature, and have been fascinated with Cuba for many years. This does not necessarily make me a Cuba expert, but in my opinion most financial claims made by people who left Cuba after the revolution should be the last thing either we or Cubans should be thinking about right now.

Re: Cuba Commentary

Professor Davis' comments about financial claims reminded me of a tour that I took of the Cuban National Archives about 20 years ago. During that tour I was shown the tax returns of the U.S. companies that were doing business in Cuba up until the time they were nationalized. At that time I was an employee of the U.S. National Archives so I had seen the claims of those same U.S. companies against Cuba for compensation. When the times comes for settlement, the experts will have to rely much on those two series of records.
