Russia/Soviet topics @ The Twelfth Blount Postal History Symposium

There are two Russia/Soviet-themed topics at the 2022 The Twelfth Blount Postal History Symposium, scheduled to be held at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C., next month.

Art historian K. Andrea Rusnock will present on "Postal Politics: Soviet Stamps of World War II" and archivist A.M. LaVey will present on "Politico-Philatelic Semiosis in Russia’s 2014 Crimea Issues." The panel's discussant will be the historian William Moskoff.

SHERA members to present at Smithsonian

SHERA members K. Andrea Rusnock and A.M. LaVey are scheduled to present at the Smithsonian next month on the intersection of visual information and Soviet/Russian/Ukrainian politics. The symposium will hybrid and be avail via zoom.

Yves Drolet is an independent historian and a member of the Quebec Academy of Philatelic Studies who specializes in the history of early Canadian philatelic associations (https://aqep.net/blog-feed/). He has compiled a bibliography of academic studies on the political, social and cultural aspects of postage stamps and philately in order to facilitate access to research in this fast-expanding field.
