PhD funding

Applications are open for PhD programmes in Modern Languages at the University of Bristol for September 2023 entry. This includes the PhD in German, as well as in Translation and in Comparative Literatures and Cultures: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/. 

We have two main funding routes: 

A number of University Scholarships and Graduate Teaching Assistantships (deadline 30 January 2023), allocated to the Faculty of Arts:

The University of Padua (Italy) has published the global call for applications "UNIPhD - Eight century legacy of multidisciplinary research and training for the next-generation talents” (closing date: 31 January 2023).

NCEEER invites applications to its 2023 Title VIII Grant Programs – Deadline of December 31, 2022:

• The Title VIII National Research Competition – individual and collaborative grants ranging from $20,000 - $40,000. 

• The Title VIII Short Term Research Grant – travel or short research programs for individual scholars, up to $2,500.

• The Title VIII Dissertation Completion Grant – for scholars in the final year of a PhD program in Eurasian or East European Studies, $25,000 per award.
