In this lecture, Professor Takii will articulate Ito’s thought from three themes, “constitution,” “parliamentarism,” and “international relations” to unravel its meaning and discuss its contemporary relevance so as to think beyond that.

Why I teach “The Art of Manga” Abroad

Otsuka Eiji, Professor, Nichibunken

Professor Otsuka, a worldwide lecturer in “The Art of Manga”, asserts Japanese Manga Industries are oblivious to the growing worldwide community of artists and audiences. How is the art of Manga perceived, received, and transformed by its interactions with similar media in the world such as French bande dessinée, American comic books, and Chinese lianhuahua? What aspect of it is maintained or discarded? Professor Otsuka will discuss these themes in his lecture.
