The Florida Atlantic University Libraries and the Huntington Library welcome applications for three joint short-term research fellowships for advanced graduate students. Fellows will spend the month of October 2020 in residence using Florida Atlantic University Libraries’ Marvin and Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection in Boca Raton, Florida.

Deadline Nov. 15: FAU-Huntington Graduate Student Research Fellowships

The Florida Atlantic University Libraries and the Huntington Library welcome applications for three joint short-term research fellowships for advanced graduate students. Fellows will spend the month of October 2020 in residence using Florida Atlantic University Libraries’ Marvin and Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection in Boca Raton, Florida. They may take the second month of the fellowship at the Huntington Library at any time between June 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

Scanlan's Monthly papers available to good home

Hello,

Years ago I did research work on the short-lived magazine Scanlan's Monthly (1970-71), edited by Warren Hinckle (former editor of Ramparts) and Sidney Zion (former New York Times reporter). Hunter S. Thompson was the magazine's most famous contributor; his landmark "gonzo journalism" piece "The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved" first appeared in Scanlan's.

I wrote a paper on the magazine that was accepted for the 2004 AEJMC conference, which you can find here:
