I am currently organizing a panel proposal for the AHA Annual Meeting in Chicago (Jan. 3 - 9, 2019).
The Historical Society for Twentieth Century China invites participation in the Society’s biennial conference on the theme of Security and Conflict in Twentieth Century China to be held at Virginia Tech’s National Capital Region conference facilities in Arlington, VA (outside of Washington, DC) from August 3-4, 2018.
Proposals (individual, panel, and roundtable) that address questions and themes related to national security and human security during the twentieth century are sought. These include:

Carola Hein (TU Delft) and Yanchen Sun (Tianjin University) are looking for participants who are examining treaty ports in Asia and planning networks that link them. In this context, the treaty ports are port cities in Asia that were opened to foreign trade and residence. Examples could include Yokohama, Kobe, Shanghai, Tianjin, Busan, Incheon, etc. These treaty ports acted as doors through which foreign powers introduced Western planing ideas into these Asia countries, and test grounds for these new ideas.

The Asian Studies Program at Seton Hall University is looking for an adjunct to teach one course on Modern Asian history in the Spring semester of 2018. Seton Hall is 14 miles southwest of New York City. The campus is 3/5 of a mile from the South Orange Station (Morris and Essex lines), a 35 min train ride from NY Penn Station.
