The Soviet artist K.I. Finogenov

Dear all,

I have just obtained a remarkable book, a “diary” of the Soviet counter-offensive at Stalingrad by an artist called K.I. Finogenov.  It was published in 1948 and - astonishingly - has not been republished since. About 80 charcoal drawings, very immediate, without sentimentality or false heroism.  The military historian Chris Bellamy reproduces a few of them in ABSOLUTE WAR.  That is where I first came across the drawings.
