The SCWH Early Career Committee’s Mentorship Program is looking for new participants for 2023. For the past few years, the Mentorship Program has paired recent PhDs and early career scholars with more experienced historians outside their university who have advised mentees on portfolios, helped with grant recommendations, given feedback on writing, and even weighed in on workplace issues.

Applications are now being accepted for a mentorship program for black graduate students, postdoctoral fellows/scholars and emerging scholars in the humanities whose work engages with the regions of South Asia and/or Southeast Asia. The mentorship program, funded by the Association for Asian Studies’ “Striving for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Asian Studies: Humanities Grants for Asian Studies Scholars,” aims to enhance the professional development of a cohort of scholars in the field.

Deadline: June 30, 2022

The Paula Hyman Mentorship Program pairs emerging scholars with experienced mentors, while also building a strong network among the cohort through group workshops. Participants benefit from working with their mentors and from developing a peer cohort.

The program focuses on professional development for early career scholars from underrepresented genders. This can include cis women, trans women, trans men, non-binary people, and those who are otherwise marginalized for their gender identity.

The graduate mentoring committee of the Southern Association for Women Historians (SAWH) would like to facilitate a mentoring program for our graduate student and job-seeking members. The mentoring program aims to provide graduate students and early career scholars with lasting connections to other scholars and graduate students across various institutions and fields.
