CFP (Panel): Cross-cultural encounters, local botanical knowledge, and scientific networks in 19th-century Angola (for 2019 ASA)

Dear colleagues,

Jeremy Ball and Sara de Albuquerque are seeking two panelists and a discussant to join a panel they are co-organizing for the 2019 African Studies Association Meeting in Boston/USA (21-23 November 2019). The panel's theme is "Cross-cultural encounters, local botanical knowledge, and scientific networks in 19th-century Angola.” They are open to considering papers on other parts of Lusophone Africa. The panel proposal and individual proposals are copied below. 

CFP: LASO Panel/ASA 2017--Deadline Monday, March 11, 2017 (midnight EST)

The Lusophone African Studies Organization (LASO) is accepting panel proposals for the 60th Annual Meeting of the African Studies Association (ASA) in Chicago, IL scheduled for November 16-18, 2017. The theme for this year’s conference is “Institutions: Creativity and Resilience in Africa.” The deadline to receive proposals is March 15, 2017.

CFS: LASO Paper Prize- November 20 Deadline

The Lusophone African Studies Organization (LASO) will award a prize to the best paper presented at the 2016 ASA conference by a graduate student or a junior scholar (having completed their Ph.D. after 2011) on a Lusophone topic. Papers that have been accepted for presentation are eligible. Only those attending the 2016 ASA meeting will be considered for the $200 award.
