The Journal of American Ethnic History announces the publication of its summer 2019 special issue, Multi-ethnic Immigration and the US South, edited by Sarah McNamara (Texas A&M University) and Cecilia Márquez (Duke University). This issue brings together scholars across disciplines who explore the US South as a site of historic immigration and multi-culturalism. List of contents below.


Seeking Co-Panelists for SHEAR 2019: Regulating Migration in the Colonial Period and Early Republic

Apologies for the last minute nature of this CFP, but I am looking for one or two participants for a panel that investigates various aspects of migration regulation (the slave trade, indentured servitude, free immigration, etc.) from the colonial period through the antebellum era. The two papers already in place are as follows: one that examines the use of immigrant bonds in the early republic, and another that analyzes the regulation of the slave trade in the colonial period.
