Season 2 of The Road to Now Launches Monday, July 10th

Season 2 of my podcast The Road to Now is starting with a 4-part series looking at the history of energy production. The first episode, which launches this Monday, July 10th, is a conversation with historian Chuck Keeney on the history of coal, and subsequent episodes will look at petrolium, nuclear power, and sustainable energy. We're looking at these technologies as products of social and political forces through time, so I think my colleagues in the humanities will really enjoy this series (we've already recorded three of these episodes, and I've learned a lot)!

CFP (Third Panelist) ASEH 2018: Oil-Related Environmental Histories

Hello,

I am interested in organizing a panel on oil-related environmental histories of the Greater Caribbean (including the Gulf of Mexico and southern United States) for the 2018 ASEH (American Society for Environmental History) conference in Riverside, CA. My own research is on the Hess oil refinery in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the second panelist’s research is focused on petrochemicals in Mexico and the southern United States. We are currently looking for a third panelist.
