CFP: Haunted Landscapes of German Eastern Europe, Edinburgh (29.02.2020)

As Jaimey Fisher and Barbara Mennel note, the study of culture through space is particularly appropriate to German Studies “given the long-term centrality of space and spatial imaginary to German culture”. That imaginary is haunted by German nationalist and colonial thought, the unresolved presence of past violence, and ongoing debates around borders and belonging, central to all of which is Germany’s relationship with its eastern neighbours.
