The Japanologist and translator of Japanese literature Jürgen Berndt (1933-1993) was one of the driving forces in GDR–Japan relations. Beate Wonde, former curator of the Mori-Ōgai-Gedenkstätte that was founded by the initiative of Berndt in 1984, will talk about the literary remains and personal papers of Berndt and their value for future research on the history of GDR-Japan relation. After an odysee through Germay the materials are today held by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. The talk will be in German.
