Mary Cramer

Mary Reddig Cramer (1847-1915) of Lexington was a Vice President of the Kentucky Equal Rights Association from 1892 to 1913. She was also a member of the Woman's Club of Central Kentucky and the Kentucky chapter of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. She attended many of the conventions of the National American Woman Suffrage Association between 1893 and 1912. This image was supplied to H-Kentucky for the Kentucky Woman Suffrage Project by Walt Cramer, her great-grandson.

Julia Woodworth Connelly c1914

Julia Woodworth Connelly (18 August 1857 - 28 July 1948) was Director of Expression and Dramatic Art at Hamilton College in Lexington, Ky. She was recruited by Luella Wilcox St. Clair (later Moss) to Kentucky in 1903 from St. Louis, Missouri. Connelly had been teaching speech and drama at Lindenwood College for Women (now Lindenwood University) and Alma College.

Alice Tribble Karr, Dean of Hamilton College, c1923

Portrait of Alice Tribble Karr (24 May 1881 - 15 July 1972), a mathematics instructor at Transylvania University, then Dean of Hamilton College by 1920. Transylvania was no longer a University by 1915 since it contained only the College of Liberal Arts. In 1923 Karr was also chairman of the Hamilton College Athletic Association. A few years before Hamilton closed in 1932, Karr began teaching mathematics at Henry Clay High School in Lexington from which she retired.

Accompanying her portrait was a short list of her educational accomplishments: "Student at Kentucky State College, 1897-98 at Kentucky (Transylvania University, 1898-1901, ibid. B.S. 1901, Graduate Student, ibid. 1908-10. Instructor in the Normal College of Kentucky (Transylvania) University, 1902.
