CALL FOR PAPERS
The annual conference for The Association of Social Anthropologists of the UK and Commonwealth, ASA2018, will take place at The University of Oxford, 18-21st September 2018. Call for papers deadline closes 20 APRIL, 23:59 GMT.
Oral History Summer School was established in Hudson, New York, in 2012, as a rigorous training program to help students from varied fields––writers, social workers, radio producers, artists, teachers, human rights workers––make use of oral history as an ethical interview practice in their lives and work.
I apologize for cross-posting, but I'm hoping that you will do me the kindness of forwarding the following announcement to your students. I'm a US anthropologist living in Florence since 2006, conducting research and working with a range of study abroad programs, and I'm drawing on that combined experience to offer my own summer program in ethnographic research methods. Please feel free to contact me for any more information or just to talk about urban research in Europe. Grazie mille!
this summer I will be offering at the Florence Ethnographic Field School, for the first time, a summer program in qualitative research methods for credit, onsite in Florence, Italy. My own research and teaching includes a specific focus on sport, and so I would welcome students from any discipline with an interest in sport studies who are looking for an ethnographic field experience over the summer.
This five-day Summer School and two-day Seminar – organised and hosted by Anglia Ruskin University under the auspices of the International Urban Symposium (IUS) – will bring together social anthropologists, sociologists, urban planners, architects, and human geographers committed to empirically-grounded analysis of cities in order to examine a number of pressing methodological and theoretical questions relating to urban change.
