We are inviting submissions to participate in a panel on contemporary responses to climate-change in the Himalayas at the 2018 South Asia Conference (Madison, WI October 11-14, 2018). As many Himalayan communities today find themselves on the front-lines of climate change facing the brunt of its impacts, coping strategies and purported ‘solutions’ have been mobilized from a variety of sectors. These have come in the form of government and non-governmental organization interventions, religious movements, and strategies that emerge from within communities themselves.
If this is the second time you are reading this, please accept my apologies for cross-posting. My name is Jason Daniel and I am a doctoral candidate at Florida International University. I am interested in organizing a panel for the 2019 AHA in Chicago. My dissertation is about the consumption of timber for shipbuilding in early eighteenth-century Cuba.
