Maudellen Brice Lanier (1881-1972), civil rights activist

Maudellen Brice was born to Louis M. and Harriet Enty Brice in Pittsburgh in 1867. In 1900, Maudellen Brice married Marshall Bell (M.B.) Lanier, a Presbyterian minister. The census lists her as a stenographer at the time.

Lucy Flint with Madam C.J. Walker

Lucy Flint (1864-1916) of Louisville, director of the Colored Orphans Home and bookkeeper for several organizations such as the Baptist Foreign Mission Board and the Baptist Women's Educational Convention, in a photo taken in 1911 when she is working for Madam C.J. Walker. Flint is in the back seat of the car at the far right of the photograph.
