November 3, 2014. DuBois Library, Amherst, Mass. The legacy of back-to-the-land communes of the late 1960s. Looking back on forty years at Montague, Wendell, Tree Frog, and Packer Corners (Total Loss) Farms in western Massachusetts and southeast Vermont. Speakers from all four of these leading countercultural communities with ties to the underground press, organic farming, the anti-nuclear movement, LGBT issues, and other activist concerns. Moderator: Timothy Miller, University of Kansas.
I am working on a comparative project that explores the 40th-anniversary commemorations of late 1960s riots/rebellions that took place in Newark, NJ (1967); Louisville, KY (1968); and Baltimore, MD (1968). I would be most grateful for any suggestions or recommendations for sources on the 21st-century commemorations of these civil disturbances. Please respond to email@example.com.
