ANN: Interview on Racism and Xenophobia in Italy

I'm pleased to share this excerpted transcript of my conversation with journalist Wuyi Jacobs in the aftermath of the February 3 attacks targeting African migrants in Macerata, Italy. Summer Field School in Florence, Italy: Graduate or Undergraduate Credit in Research Methods

Dear Colleagues,

I apologize for cross-posting, but I'm hoping that you will do me the kindness of forwarding the following announcement to your students. I'm a US anthropologist living in Florence since 2006, conducting research and working with a range of study abroad programs, and I'm drawing on that combined experience to offer my own summer program in ethnographic research methods. Please feel free to contact me for any more information or just to talk about urban research in Europe. Grazie mille!

Summer Ethnographic Field School in Italy, Ideal for Students Interested in Sport Studies

Dear Colleagues,

this summer I will be offering at the Florence Ethnographic Field School, for the first time, a summer program in qualitative research methods for credit, onsite in Florence, Italy. My own research and teaching includes a specific focus on sport, and so I would welcome students from any discipline with an interest in sport studies who are looking for an ethnographic field experience over the summer.
