I am seeking a chair, commentator, and two panelists for a panel on gender and confinement for the 2017 meeting of the Berkshire Conference on the History of Women, Genders, and Sexualities. I’d like this to be an interdisciplinary panel that deals with the theme of confinement really broadly; papers can be on physical bodily confinement such as incarceration or more abstract forms of social confinement. I’d especially like to see attention to agency within situations of confinement.
