This volume examines the roles and contributions of civil society and social movements in terms of women and youth empowerment, freedom of expression, conflict resolution, the promotion of human rights and community peace-building. For this scope, it investigates the impact of civil society and social movements organizations on politics, power and their impact on social and political life. The book also analyses the extent to which the new information technologies are used by civil society and social movements for mobilizing as well as framing their political and social demands.
