The Michigan Soclological Review (MSR) invites submissions for Vol. 30 (Fall 2016). The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2016. To submit, send an email to the editor, Brigitte Bechtold, at becht1bh@cmich.edu, with two files attached: one that has all author identification removed, and a second file with author contact information, biography of no more than 100 words, and any author acknowledgments. All files should be in .doc format, and use the American Sociological Association citation style.

The Program

In an intensive six-week course of study, faculty members and graduate students from around the world, in the humanities and social sciences, explore recent developments in critical theory. The 2016 Session is scheduled for June 19 – July 29.

Participants work with the SCT’s core faculty of distinguished scholars and theorists in one of four six-week seminars. Each faculty member offers, in addition, a public lecture and a colloquium (based on an original paper) which are attended by the entire group.

Romania has the largest number of abandoned children in the European Union. The number of children in the care of the child protection system is over 60,000. Of these 60,000 institutionalised children, only 3,000 are adoptable. The number of applications for adoption is 1,700.
