The Rocky Mountain Military Affairs Society presents a free public lecture, "The View from the Turret: The 743rd Tank Battalion during World War II, by Dr. William Folkestad, Dean, College of Humanities and Soc. Sciences, CSU-Pueblo. William Folkestad, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at CSU–Pueblo, received his doctorate in medieval studies from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington in 1992. He has published two peer-reviewed books with World War II as their subject: The View from the Turret.

The Kentucky Association of Teachers of History (KATH) calls for faculty sponsors to submit their exemplary student papers from last academic year (2016-17) for the KATH Student Writing Awards 2017.
The Georgia Association of Historians invites proposals from professional historians and current graduate students of history for its 2018 Conference in Macon, GA. The GAH welcomes proposals from all areas and subfields of history, including African, North American, Asian, European, and Latin American history, global history, public history, historic preservation, and regional studies, as well as proposals focused on resource and archival management and historical pedagogy.
A country school preservation conference will be held in Sheldon, Ia., Oct. 6-7 on the Northwest Iowa Community College campus. This conference which has been held annualy since 2000 brings together persons interested in learning about the history related to preservation, and interpretative programming for one and two-room country schools. On Saturday participants will be able to visit a town museum and four preserved country school museums.
