The Joel Lane Museum House presents a lecture on “Antiques and Collections: Determining Value” by Leland Little.

In “Antiques and Collections: Determining Value,” Leland Little will discuss factors that add or detract from the value of antiques and collections. His presentation will address issues such as age, provenance, condition, form, regionalism, and pop culture. Mr. Little provides insight into valuing, caring for, developing, and/or selling collections.

This fall, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities (MARCH) is offering two continuing education courses as part of its new certificate program in historic preservation.  A country school preservation conference will be held in Sheldon, Ia., Oct. 6-7 on the Northwest Iowa Community College campus. This conference which has been held annualy since 2000 brings together persons interested in learning about the history related to preservation,  and interpretative programming for one and two-room country schools.  On Saturday participants will be able to visit a town museum and four preserved country school museums.
