The Maine State Bicentennial Conference Committee at the University of Maine seeks proposals for individual papers, complete panels, as well as alternate formats at a conference that will explore all aspects of the Maine statehood process as well as bicentennial commemoration.

The scholarly conference will be held at the University of Maine in Orono, with a field trip to Augusta, from May 30 to June 1, 2019. Confirmed keynote speakers are Alan Taylor (Univ. of Virginia) and Laurel Thatcher Ulrich (Harvard Univ.). The conferene will be open to the public for a small fee.

The two-day conference is organized by the Fondazione Campo Fossoli, whose mission is to preserve and transmit the history and memories of this Italian site of transit.
