The Society of the Cincinnati is offering three research fellowships for 2018:

The Tyree-Lamb Fellowship, and two Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati Fellowships. Each fellowship provides $1,500 to support the cost of travel, housing, and per diem expenses for a scholar wishing to use the Society’s library for a period of at least five days. The fellowships are open to graduate students and other scholars who are conducting research that may benefit from the library’s holdings.

I am putting together a panel on “Slave Sites and the Francophone World” for the 2018 French Colonial Historical Society Meeting in Seattle (May 31-June 2). I am seeking 1-2 more panelists and a chair. Ibrahima Seck and I will both be presenting papers on Gorée Island, Senegal. I am interested in expanding this panel to include papers that address slave monuments, memorials, museums, heritage sites, etc. in other regions of French, or former French, Empire.
