ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The seventh edition of the international conference “Europe as a Global Actor” will focus on discussing the EU’s current and envisioned role in the world (and Africa, Asia, Middle East, and Latin America, in particular) in the context of internal challenges of populism, East-West and North-South divides, and external challenges of Russia, China, and Turkey’s growing assertiveness, with a focus on shared neighbourhoods.

Romani people have been part of Atlantic circulations for over 500 years. Yet, scholars have rarely applied the circum-Atlantic frame in ways that illuminate the lived experiences of Romani people. This collection aims to enrich Romani history and Romani studies, as well as the scholarship of those regions that are a part of the Atlantic world, by considering the experiences of Romani people within an Atlantic context.
