Unprecedented waves of forest fires are remaking landscapes, politics, and communities globally. For many, these fires stress that the politics of the climate crisis are no longer the concern of a few, but urgent questions for all. But what precisely are the connections between climate and fires, and can we disentangle those connections from other causes? How do these fires push us to reconsider conventional ideas about nature, society, and power?
This is a warm invitation to submit a proposal for the European Society for Environmental History Conference in 2021. The proposals can be both in-person or virtual (due to the uncertainty of the pandemic situation). We are really looking for a conference that brings the ESEH in conversation with other disciplines and with the challenges of the present socio-ecological crisis. The theme of the conference is:
Same planet, different worlds: environmental histories imagining anew
Deadline by October 31, 2020.
