A Public Service Announcement (PSA) for the Kentucky Woman Suffrage Project that was recorded at Lexington Community Radio on July 7, 2017, by Dr. Randolph Hollingsworth, University of Kentucky. This PSA focuses on a short clip from a "Statement of Mrs. Desha Breckenridge (sic), of Kentucky" (see her full speech in Committee on Woman Suffrage, Hearing before the Committee on Rules, House of Representatives, Sixty-Third Congress, Second Session on Resolution Establishing a Committee on Woman Suffrage, December 3, 4, and 5, 1913. [Washington: Government Printing Office, 1914], pages 19-22.). Mrs. Breckinridge was speaking not only on behalf of the Kentucky Equal Rights Association (of which she was president at the time) but also for all U.S. suffragists as she was then the vice president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. See more about Breckinridge in a short essay for the KWSP Biosketches by Lindsay Apple or the 2009 biography by Melba Hay.
