Online discussion on Open Access Publishing in the Humanities, organized by H-HistBibl and the History Section of the Reference and User Services Association of the American Library Association (April 25, 2018).
The discussion started with brief presentations by Seth Denbo, Director of Scholarly Communication and Digital Initiatives at the American Historical Association, and Sarah McKee, Senior Associate Director for Publishing at the Bill and Carol Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry, Emory University.
They briefly outlined some of the most critical issues today for open access in the humanities and described what their respective institutions are doing in that field. Participants were then able to ask questions and provide comments on related topics, including partnerships between humanities subject librarians and faculty regarding OA publishing, challenges to the development of OA in the humanities, successful initiatives, etc. Suggestions for topics for future discussions were also put forward.
