Teaching Women's History

It is my hope with this blog to share my successes and failures on incorporating women’s history into my American history courses.  I will also share the sources that I use to communicate the information to my students and encourage their interest.  Each blog will look at a topic in women’s history and how I incorporated it into a survey course.

Re: Visa Troubles in the Archives

I was in Russia from August 2013 to July 2014 on a student visa and had no issues. You would need to find a sponsoring institution -- I took some intensive language courses to gain the visa -- but I had no visa issues the entire time I was in St. Petersburg. I did have to wait quite a while to get my 90 day visa extended for the full period I was there, and during that period, I could not get into some of the archives I wanted (the Imperial branch of RGAVMF, RGIA) because they demanded my original passport and would not accept copies.
