Berea College announces a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Chinese and Asian Studies beginning August 2016. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chinese language, linguistics, literature, or another related field, native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English, and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities include teaching introductory courses in Chinese language and culture, contributing to the College’s General Education program, and collaborating with the Asian Studies and Foreign Languages programs to develop and maintain an introductory curriculum in Chinese language. 

Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2015, and continue until the position is filled. Berea faculty will be present at the 2015 meeting of the American Association of Chinese Studies at the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas on October 9-11, 2015, to conduct preliminary interviews with interested candidates.
