4Cs Preconference Workshop Invitation: "Leadership in Action"

Joddy Murray Discussion

*Apologies for cross-posting.*

We are inviting participants for a preconvention workshop titled "Leadership in Action" held at the next Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) in Houston, TX. Our field's studies of rhetoric provide us with considerable leadership skills and aptitudes, and leadership studies can help us build on those strengths to better advance initiatives and manage broader institutional changes. In our workshop, we will consider strategies for expanding our impact and improving our individual effectiveness along with those for reflecting upon our strengths and needs. Leadership studies stress the dialectic relations of self-reflection and collaborative action. Our discussions of these concepts will be grounded in hands-on workshops on a project that you bring to the table. We will draw on our expertise with rhetoric and composition to explore strategies for project and change management, including environmental scans to develop rhetorical analyses of stakeholders’ assumptions and priorities and heuristics for collaborative problem-solving. We will move through a series of activities, including environmental scans, project management, and engaging stakeholders. More information on the workshop itself is available online.

You can sign up for this and other all-day preconvention workshops directly at the NCTE CCCC webpage, and feel free to contact us If you have questions.
