Query: Audience research on contextualizing panels for monuments?
Hi,
Thinking about the problem of contextualizing monuments and memorials with exhibit panels, wayside markers, etc. Are there any studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of contextualization efforts in shaping/altering popular perceptions of monuments? We have this idea that adding new information on a wayside marker will help "visitors" interpret these things in different ways. Does that actually happen? I doubt it, but I want to back that intuition up with some data.
