The program for the Applied Arts of Alchemy Virtual Symposium is live on the Science History Institute website and registration is now open. The symposium will explore alchemy’s practical and applied uses and their lasting impact on chemistry, technology, medicine, experimentation, and the marketplace. Through explorations of entrepreneurship, patronage, and commerce, we will examine the place of alchemical knowledge, ingredients, and products in a proto-industrial developing global market.

Symposium Schedule (all times EDT):

Wed 19th May

530pm–730pm: Bruce Moran’s Keynote Lecture followed by Distillations Happy Hour

Thu 20th May

11am–445pm: Lightning talks, roundtable, & panel session

Fri 21st May

Further Details

The symposium fee is $25, which, true to the secrecy of alchemical practice, includes mystery gifts. So that we can send you your gifts, please make sure to fill in your postal address during registration. There is also a check box that gives us permission to contact you with news that might be of interest and about future events at the Institute. Please uncheck this box if you do not wish to be contacted (and similarly for the second checkbox relating to emails from Eventbrite). Closer to the beginning of the symposium we will send out practical instructions on how to connect via Zoom, etc.

On behalf of the AAA organizing committee, we are looking forward to seeing you at the symposium.
