Call for Applications: H-SMT Review Editors

Last year H-Sci-Med-Tech initiated its own book reviews, and now we are looking for new review editors to expand our offerings!

This is an invaluable opportunity to learn about current scholarship and debates and help facilitate discussion and exchange among scholars and students. H-Sci-Med-Tech reviews are published on the H-Sci-Med-Tech network, distributed to H-Review's 4,200+ subscribers, freely accessible on the H-Net Commons, and listed in the Library of Congress online catalog. H-Net handles all book ordering and mailing, and we have two professional copyeditors on staff.

We are looking for candidates with a graduate degree and backgrounds in the history of science, medicine, and/or technology, or in social studies of science, medicine, and/or technology. The work is suitable for junior scholars: many current and past editors started editing when they were junior postdocs or graduate students.

Review editors, according to the H.Net bylaws, solicit reviewers; edit reviews; work with online list editors to post reviews to their lists; and work with reviewers, authors, and publishers to develop reviews and special feature pieces on materials in print or other media forms.

H-Sci-Med-Tech is a service for the entire scholarly community that, like other H-Net Networks, runs on volunteer labor. Review editors normally have three to four reviews in various stages of the process at any given time, but turnaround times are flexible. H-Net will provide training in using the reviews platform and multiple resources are available to assist you.
