Shevchenko: Encounters with Polish *and Ukrainian* Literature/23

Patrice Dabrowski's picture

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Prof. George Grabowicz (HURI, Harvard) joins me on the latest special Ukrainian episode of "Encounters with Polish and Ukrainian Literature" to discuss the great nineteenth-century poet, Taras Shevchenko, and the concept of "the national poet" that applies to many national literatures, particularly in our region (we touch upon Mickiewicz as well, and mention Petőfi, Pushkin, Shakespeare, and some countries that don't particularly have national poets as well). We look at four poems translated by Prof. Grabowicz, which as far as I know, are not published elsewhere in his translation.
