Dear PSA Members,
Please mark your calendars for our annual PSA Member Meeting at this year's ASEEES Convention in Chicago. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 pm, Thursday November 10 in the Hilton Palmer House, Salon 12. And the really exciting part is that we will host a wine and cheese reception immediately following the meeting!
At the same time, PSA leadership is doing a bit of a reboot. Several of our Board members have served considerably longer than they originally planned, graciously agreeing to stay on during the pandemic. We are now seeking three new Board members to serve three-year terms to join the two remaining members.
The duties of Board members are fairly non-threatening. Members consult with the rest of the Board on PSA policy issues, attend the ASEEES Meeting when possiible, and typically head up subcommittees to arbitrate article prizes, the graduate student travel competition, and/or our syllabus competition. The work is flexible and we would like to represent the widest possible range of interests and backgrounds of our members, so graduate students and those in disciplines that are not history are strongly encouraged to throw their hats in the ring.
Anyone interested in competing for one of the Board positions, please contact Keely Stauter-Halsted at email@example.com by Friday, October 7. We will then circuate brief biographies of each contender and a sense for what each colleague would bring to the Board should they be elected.
Lastly, this is my annual appeal to please renew your membership and pay your dues. Dues paying flagged a bit during the pandemic when we were not holding live conferences, but we really do need your payments to refresh our coffers and provide funds to support our various prizes. The dues are pretty minimal: $25 for faculty and non-tenure track folks, and $15 for graduate students. Just follow this link to the login page to make payment: https://polishstudiesassociation.org/membership/.
