The American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies has posted a list of panels for which there are openings at their March 22-25, 2018 conference in Orlando, via a link at Please note number 180 in particular: Colloquy with Ramesh Mallipeddi on Spectacular Suffering: Witnessing Slavery in the Eighteenth-Century British Atlantic. As with each of the 40+ interdisciplinary colloquies in the list available at "Two Decades and Counting," each participant in this roundtable -- including the book's author -- will make a 4- or 5-minute opening comment, laying out an idea she or he wants the discussion to address; that brevity will free up time for a lively, substantive discussion that engages members of the audience as well as panelists.

Colleagues interested in being a panelist should send a 200-word statement about the book, and a C.V. of no more than 2 pages, by early September at the latest. Thank you.
