The Journal of the Early Republic is delighted to announce that Dr. Kristin O’Brassil-Kulfan has joined our editorial team as co-book reviews editor, partnering with Lindsay Shackenbach Regele. Kristin received her Ph.D. from the University of Leicester and is a member of the faculty of the Department of History at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Kristin has published several book chapters and journal essays, including the forthcoming “Overseers of the Poor: Relief, Surveillance, and Control in the Early Republic Northeast” in the JER, and is the author of Vagrants and Vagabonds: Poverty and Mobility in the Early American Republic (NYU Press, 2019).
In addition to her long and impressive list of publications, Kristin is also an accomplished public historian and has curated and consulted on exhibits and worked as an archivist in the United States and Britain. At the JER, we have known Kristin for some time as a generous, thoughtful, and committed reviewer of manuscripts and books, and we have welcomed every opportunity we’ve had to collaborate with her on JER forums. We are tremendously excited that Kristen has joined our team and can’t wait to have our readers benefit from all the contributions she will be making to the journal.
